Carl I really look forward to your articles.
I am just about to close on a refinance and
was amazed at the fee's involved. When I
called the loan officer and asked about
these fee's which I had not seen in any of
the paper work he had sent me. He told me
they were normal for this type of loan but I
don't remember having to pay this much when
I last refinanced.
Dear Pat,
As a matter of law the loan officer is
required to sent you a Good Faith Estimate
within 3 business
days. This must clearly state all fee's
involved. You are required to sign this
form, so you should ask him to give you a
copy. If you are unhappy with the fee's then
tell him so and try to get him to reduce his
fee's prior to signing doc's, it will be too
late after this.
