It's no wonder monkey's eat bananas. Should we be eating more bananas too! Here are some facts I bet you didn't know about this easily peeled yellow fruit.

Banana's contain three natural sugars : sucrose, fructose and glucose, the banana is also high in fiber and it gives an instant and sustained boost of energy. Scientific research has shown that just two bananas will provide enough energy for an intense hour and a half workout. They also provide a lot more than energy, they can also hydrate your body.

One of the quickest ways of getting rid of that hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up low blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Bananas can alter your physical state, but in a good way. You can forget about taking all kinds of vitamins. Just eat a banana, the main vitamin in bananas is B6, this helps to regulate blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Bananas are also high in fiber and that can help restore normal bowel action, overcoming the problem of constipation without resorting to laxatives.

Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people have found it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. In Twickenham, England 200 students claimed that they were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that this potassium-packed fruit can make students more alert.

The banana can also help prevent a number of internal problems, making it a must in our daily diet.: Bananas are high in all the B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Bananas can help maintain low cholesterol, which in turn helps lower blood pressure. Research has shown bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief. The banana can be used against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach. This fruit is high in iron, and it can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood which helps in cases of anemia.

An apple a day might keep the dentist away, but a banana a day really keeps the doctor away.
